Meet Coach Ashley

Hey! I am Ashley Terry, the Founder, Equine Gestalt Coach, and Facilitator of Untethered Equine, an equine based experiential coaching and personal development practice serving clients in Eastern Nebraska and beyond. As a wife, mother of five, rural real estate professional, and lifelong horse lover, I understand the challenges of balancing family, career, personal growth, and healing. Living on my family farm with my husband Russell, our children, 2 dogs, 6 ducks, 1 cat and a herd of horses. I have witnessed firsthand the powerful impact horses can have on emotional wellness, self-discovery, confidence, leadership, and transformation.

I’m driven by a passion for helping others navigate life’s obstacles, I’ve pursued professional training in Equine Facilitation and Equine Gestalt Coaching through Touched By A Horse®. I partner with my horses to create meaningful, experiential coaching sessions that support individuals seeking emotional healing, trauma recovery, personal growth, self-awareness, and lasting life change. Through Untethered Equine, I provide a safe, supportive environment where clients can reconnect with themselves, gain clarity, build resilience, and experience the unique healing power of horses.

I am a Gestaltist

Gestalt is the quest for wholeness

The EGCMethod is:

A Non-Diagnostic Approach – Equine Gestalt Coaching provides a safe, judgment-free space to explore emotions, experiences, and personal patterns without labels or diagnoses.

Awareness Creates Change – Through guided experiences and interactions with horses, clients gain deeper awareness of behaviors, beliefs, and emotions that may be influencing their lives.

Experiential Rather Than Traditional Talk Therapy – Equine Gestalt Coaching focuses on learning through experience, helping clients create meaningful insights and lasting change.

Partnering with Horses for Healing and Growth – Horses offer honest, real-time feedback that helps clients develop self-awareness, confidence, authenticity, and emotional resilience.

Learning to Respond Rather Than React – By identifying and releasing unresolved emotional patterns, clients can approach life’s challenges with greater clarity, intention, and confidence.

In a nutshell……

Equine Gestalt Coaching is an experiential coaching process that combines powerful Gestalt methods with the unique partnership of horses. Rather than simply talking about challenges, clients actively experience insights and breakthroughs in real time. Horses serve as intuitive partners in the process, offering immediate, non-judgmental feedback that helps clients deepen awareness, build confidence, and reconnect with their authentic selves.

You are in the right place if …

  • You feel stuck in patterns that no longer serve you.
  • You are ready to heal emotional wounds at their source.
  • You want greater confidence, clarity, and purpose in your life.
  • Traditional talk-based approaches haven’t created the change you seek.
  • You are open to partnering with horses on your healing journey.

Meet the Horses

Our Healing Herd

fred

Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse (appendix) — 15 years old and he is the “old man” of the herd – or we call him the “fun police” – if he isnt having fun, nobody can! He is a hoot! He is big, stout, strong, opinionated – but boy does he have a soft side and gentle stride!

giraffe

Appaloosa – 28 years old and a crypto stud.

Pronounced: Ger-ah-fey. He is our true old man and is here for a gentle landing spot after he endured abuse from humans. I rescued him 5 years ago and He trusts me, loves scratches and treats and will always have a spot in our pastures.

roman

Quarter Horse — 8 years old and the leader of the herd!

He is small and bossy. Always wants to be in charge. But his kind eye, softness and awareness are all great aspects he brings to coaching. He wants to be around humans and loves a good muzzle kiss.

sancho

Quarter Horse — 17 years old.

Quiet and steady. Ready to please and eager to be part of anything that he is around. He tries hard, loves deeply, has a true soul and keeps everyone honest. He is a sucker for scratches and shows up bold, confident and steady!

trouble

Quarter Horse — 15 years old and the biggest toddler you’ll ever meet!

There is nothing that Trouble will not get into, mess with, disorganize or dishevel. He is GIANT lover, low in the herd pecking order and admires his human partners. He shows up strong, steady and light hearted!

What you need to know

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this therapy?

No. Equine Gestalt Coaching is not therapy, counseling, or treatment service. It is a coaching process designed to help individuals increase self-awareness, explore personal challenges, identify limiting beliefs, and create meaningful change. While many clients experience emotional healing and personal growth, coaching focuses on helping you move forward with your own inner answers, rather than diagnosing or treating conditions.

How do horses help in the coaching process?

Horses naturally respond to human emotions and energy without judgment. Their honest feedback helps clients recognize patterns, emotions, and beliefs that may be difficult to identify through conversation alone, creating opportunities for deeper insight and healing.

Do I need horse experience to participate?

No experience with horses is required. The horses are not ridden during sessions, and all interactions take place on the ground. Your coach will guide you every step of the way to ensure you feel comfortable and safe.

What if I'm afraid of horses?

The coach and her handler assistant will be with you all the time and keep you very safe! You’ll be slowly introduced, through the fence, so that you can get to know the horse at your own pace. You’ll also receive a safety demo at the beginning of the session so that you understand basic horse safety and learn about the horse that you’ll be working with that day.
